“You are the salt of the earth . . .” – Matthew 5:13

Welcome

Founded by Peter "Old Captain" Durette in 1790, the FABC family greets you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. We are a church with a rich history and bright future, reaching today's community with the real, relevant and life-altering Word of God. We pray that you find our website informative, inspiring and inviting. We welcome you to come worship with us and study with us. And if so led by the Spirit of God, unite with us as we strive to become "The Church In The Community For The Hearts Of The Community."

May God bless you and we look forward to seeing you!

“Serving the West End Community and the City of Lexington

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord,
and he will repay him for his deed.”

[Proverbs 19:17]

Ferrill Square Apartments

The former Douglass School, built in Lexington Ky in 1948 was constructed for Elementary, Junior and Senior High students. Douglass School proudly served its African American student population until 1972 when the school was closed as part of Fayette County's desegregation plan.

First African Baptist Church purchased Douglass School in 1981 and after undergoing extensive renovations, a part of

Lexington's history was reborn as Kanisa Apartments (later renamed to Ferrill Square Apartments), committed to serving and meeting the needs of the broader Lexington community.

Ferrill Square Apartments is located on the campus of First African Baptist Church at 471 Price Rd Lexington, KY 40508 and offers affordable and secure housing for eligible Senior and Disabled members in our community.  It has 59 spacious units. Contact the office for lease terms and vacancy inquiry at 859-389-9784.  Ferrill Square Apartments: Equal Housing Opportunity

Mission House

Also located on the campus of First African Baptist Church at 901 Georgetown St. Lexington, KY 40508 is the FABC Mission House. Our Mission House facility allows us to minister to the needs of our community through clothing drives, cook outs, social awareness events and various other community outreach activities. Through our Mission House we attempt to demonstrate our Christian compassion and our love for our neighbors by providing programs that minister to both individuals and families in the West End community of Lexington.
